Camlocks are used to connect pipes and hoses. Camlock fittings are also known as cam and groove coupling. Camlock fittings are highly demanded in the fittings market due to the easy installation. Because of its versatility in application, camlock fittings can be found in various industries such as pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and even military. Camlocks are best used when there is a need for frequent pipe change and maintenance. However, it is not recommended to be used in air and steam applications. There are 8 types of camlock fittings, ranging from Type A to Type DP. The camlock fitting type offered is Type A. Type A cam and groove coupling has male adapter end with female thread. The thread type is NPT. The material used is stainless steel SS316. The male adapter can be used with female couplers of identical size. Type A camlock is usually paired with Type D camlock fitting. For stainless steel SS316 Type A camlock, the maximum working pressure for each size is as below:½”: 150 PSI¾” to 2”: 250 PSI2 ½”: 225 PSI3”: 200 PSI4”: 100 PSITo connect a camlock fitting, do refer below:Pull the female coupler lever above the cam handleSlide the adaptor into coupler with normal hand pressureClose the coupler by press down the levers. It will lock the adaptor when the levers are closed, hence creating a connectionTo disconnect camlock fitting, refer to simple 4 steps below:Depressurize the connectionPull back the locking lever while rotating the handle away from the coupler’s bodyRemove the adapterClose the coupler by rotating the handle towards the coupler’s body. When coupler is not in used, lock it to prevent possible damages.
